COUNCIL MEMBER FERRERAS ANNOUNCES MAY DAY COMMUNITY INITIATIVE WITH MAKE THE ROAD NEW YORK
New York City Council Member Julissa Ferreras and Make the Road New York are sponsoring "P'Alante: Immigrant Communities in Action," a joint effort to clean up Roosevelt Avenue, promote immigration reform, and register new voters.
Scheduled for the morning of Saturday, May 1, 2010, the action will commence from 92-10 Roosevelt Avenue at 9 am. Community activists and concerned residents will come together to demonstrate their commonality on International Workers Day.
"We are very excited to come together as a community to clean up the streets and demonstrate our pride as working people," commented Council Member Julissa Ferreras. "Whether we are immigrants or were born here, residents of Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights all desire a better and more beautiful neighborhood."
